How To Prepare Your Car For A Road Trip
Road trips should always be a fun and enjoyable adventure for family and friends. Because we can’t imagine anything worse than being stuck on the side of road in 40-degree heat with no reception waiting for roadside assistance
By using these quick and easy tips, you can make sure your car is in tip-top shape and your next road trip is hassle free!
Service Your Car
First and foremost, check your service sticker! If your almost due, book your car in for a service. Long drives tend to put a strain on your vehicle. So even if you’re a month or two off from service, book it in for a service and ensure your car is ready to hit the roads!
Check Your Tires
Leaving your home with uninflated or bald tyres is simply asking for trouble.
So, check your tyres for any visible signs for concern. This includes excessive or uneven wear, embedded nails, or cuts. If you see any of these signs… CHANGE YOUR TYRES!
Also, check your tyre pressure and reset it if need be!
Check Your Brakes
After checking you tyres it only makes sense to check your brakes. If you’re hearing squeaking coming from your brakes, this generally indicates that your brake pads are worn and due for a change. If you’re hearing any other unusual noises, it would also be a smart move to get a service technician to have a look at it.
Check Your Fluids
Pop open your bonnet and check the engine oil, windscreen washer reservoir, coolant, and Ad Blue reserve (for your diesel drivers) and top up if need be. If you’re unsure, you can always take you car to a service technician beforehand and book in a minor service.
Check Your Lights
It’s important to ensure all your lights and indicators are functional to avoid accidents. Just turn on your lights and have walk around your car to see if everything’s up to scratch! If you see any visible signs of faults or damage, contact your local car service technicians to have a look!
Check Your Coverage
No matter how prepared you may be, we’re still under the hands of luck and a breakdown or flat tyre can still happen to the best of us. So check your insurance coverage and roadside assistance is up-to-date.
