One of the best ways to make an Audi A3, S3 or RS3 faster is by tuning its ECU. An ECU tune refers to software that alters the factory settings of your Audi engine. 2. COLD AIR INTAKE

The stock intake system on your Audi 8V engine is designed to balance comfort and efficiency. This is another factory limitation that inhibits your Audi’s performance potential. We, therefore, recommend upgrading to a high-performance cold-air intake because it feeds more air into the forced induction engine, thus increasing output. To maximise performance and airflow, we recommend upgrading to a complete intake system that also removes the stock airbox. A cold air intake can also enhance fuel efficiency!

3. AFTERMARKET DOWNPIPE OR EXHAUST SYSTEM

Installing a high-flow downpipe or exhaust system on any Audi A3, S3 or RS3 is a sure way of improving horsepower, torque, and sound.  The factory downpipe is the main restriction point in the exhaust of any Audi 8V engine. The stock downpipe restricts the performance of your Audi because it balances comfort and efficiency. For most Audi 8V models, you can either opt for a turbo-back or cat-back exhaust system. A turbo-back exhaust system replaces the stock exhaust system right from the turbocharger and requires high-flow catalytic converters for street-intended use. A cat-back exhaust system is set up from the stock catalytic converter backward. The turbo-back exhaust system tends to deliver more power and louder exhaust sounds.   

With a Stage 2 ECU tune, you can expect a ~60-90HP and 100-160Nm of Torque gain from stock, depending on your Audi 8V model.

4. INTERCOOLER

With all these performance mods, the stock intercooler in your Audi 8V can get heat-soaked. Heat soaking is when your intercooler is unable to dissipate the heat from the turbo fast enough. Thus, your intercooler is unable to cool the charge air leading to a loss in performance. To solve this problem, we recommend upgrading your stock intercooler to an aftermarket intercooler. A thicker, more efficient intercooler will provide the engine with cooler air and improve performance and power. There are various options for aftermarket intercoolers available. 5. SUSPENSION

Aftermarket suspension upgrades for your Audi can significantly improve performance and handling. You generally have 2 main options when it comes to lowering your Audi A3, S3 or RS3 – Springs or Coil overs. Lowering Springs are an affordable option that lowers your Audi vehicle with lower costs! However, the one consideration for springs is the factory shocks do not adjust to the height you are lowering to. This may present minor issues depending on how low you drop your Audi 8V.
