What Are The Best Performance Upgrades for BMW?
BMW produces exceptional cars with great performing engines. However, there may come a time when you want more power or a different driving experience for your BMW. We’ve put together a list of the best performance upgrades for your BMW. The BMW performance mods that we list below are in no order.
We always recommend that you take your car to a BMW Car specialist for all of your BMW performance upgrades.
Best Engine Upgrades for BMW
BMW ECU Tune
An ECU tune is software that alters the factory settings of your BMW engine. It adjusts the boost, airflow, timing, and fuel to gain more horsepower and torque out of your BMW. BMWs are built with performance in mind, so they’re known to respond well to an ECU tune and gain a good amount of power. Alternatively, you can buy a Stage 1, Stage 2, or Stage 3 tune package. PAW Motorsport is a reputable software tuners that you can purchase here in Melbourne for your BMW performance upgrade. A BMW tune is the first upgrade we recommend, if you’re looking for more power and torque.
We recommend going to an established auto shop to get a dyno tune for your car when getting a BMW tune. There’s an ongoing debate on whether a street tune or dyno tune is better. However, the Dyno tune is generally the better option. Dyno tunes allow for increased safety, more torque and power gain and more accurate readings
BMW Intake System
The stock intake system in a BMW engine is generally designed to balance comfort and efficiency. This is a manufacturer limitation designed for the general masses. However, for avid car enthusiasts, this simply limits your BMW performance. We, therefore, recommend upgrading to a high-performance cold-air BMW intake because it feeds more air into the forced induction engine, thus increasing output. To maximise performance and airflow, we recommend upgrading to a complete BMW intake system that also removes the stock airbox. A cold air intake can also enhance fuel efficiency!
BMW Intercooler
The stock intercooler on your BMW can become heat soaked. Heat soaking occurs when your intercooler is unable to dissipate the heat from the turbo fast enough thus unable to cool the charge air and ultimately losing performance. This can happen when you begin to add performance upgrades to your BMW. To solve this problem, we recommend upgrading your stock intercooler to an aftermarket performance upgraded intercooler. A thicker, more efficient intercooler will allow the engine to cool air and improve performance and power.
Suspension Upgrade for BMW
Suspensions are a great performance upgrade that can improve handling, performance, and even everyday comfort driving. This BMW upgrade will replace your BMW stock shocks and struts. BMW suspensions will allow you to adjust the height of your BMW, compression and rebound dampening settings. Ultimately, this provides you with more options. You can fine-tune your BMW suspensions to be optimised for performance or comfort and alter between the two!
BMW Wheels
Tyres tend to be an overlooked aspect of performance upgrades. Surprisingly, tyres control your maximum acceleration to maximum deacceleration and to maximum cornering. Although tyres seem like a minor mod, they shouldn’t be overlooked. the potential that changing your tires can do to your car – both aesthetically and performance wise is incredible. The best tyres for BMW will depend on your model, environment and driving style!
