When Should I Service My VW?
How Can You Tell When Your Volkswagen Needs A Service?
If your VW vehicle is on a Flexible servicing regime, a service light on your dashboard will illuminate when it’s time for your VW vehicle to get serviced. This means sensors detect oil-degrading and calculate oil change requirements. For most cars, this is usually at 15,000KM or every 12 months.
If your VW vehicle is set on a Fixed Service regime, the service light will automatically illuminate around every 12 months or 15,000KM – whichever comes first.
Once your service light shows up we recommend that you visit your nearest VW service centre in Melbourne that uses genuine parts and factory-recommended tools and get a logbook service.
How Often Should I Get my VW service?
Depending on your driving style, journey types and even the climate of your country, various factors can influence how often you need a service. The best way to find out the recommended maintenance schedule of your VW vehicle is to review the owner’s manual or speak to a qualified VW mechanic.
As a general rule, the VW servicing schedule is based on increments of 15,000KM. After your first 15,000KM of driving, it is likely that your Volkswagen will need an oil and oil filter change as well as an overall check-over. At 30,000KM, the same maintenance at 15,000KM will also occur, however you will likely require additional maintenance.
Additional maintenance and inspections include:
– Brake Fluid
– Coolant
– Leaks (within engine area and below vehicle)
– Headlight Controls
– Wiper Blades
– Tyres & Tyre Pressure
– Battery
– Any other potential malfunctions
Depending on your driving style, etc… each service may vary and maintenance costs may alter between each increment of scheduled service.

Can I Skip my VW service?
As a general rule of thumb, you should never skip a scheduled car service. In order to save costs in the long term, save money on fuel and preserve the life of your car, we recommend that you keep up to date with your servicing schedule and regularly visit your VW service centre in Melbourne accordingly.
For an in-depth explanation, please view our article ‘Why you should never skip a car service’.
What if my VW has a tune?
If your vehicle has a performance tune or any form of hardware/software calibration, the service and repair schedule may differ. Hardware upgrades such as intakes, exhaust systems and intercoolers, alter your vehicle. We recommend a more frequent service and repair schedule because hardware upgrades require greater attention to detail from a specialist.
